Course Outline - the aim of this course is to increase knowledge of the potential impact of gender based violence on children and to increase participants ability to engage, communicate, observe and work effectively with children, young people and their families affected by gender based violence. The focus is on the interface between gender based violence and child protection.
This course is funded by Inverclyde Child Protection Committee and there is no charge for those attending.
Core Competencies - the course aims to help practitioners develop the following core competencies:
Protect and promote the well-being of children and young people.
Access all relevant aspects of local child protection procedures.
Contribute to identifying and implementing potential interventions.
Course Objectives - it is intended that by the end of this course participants will have:
Defined gender based violence
An understanding of the scale of the problem
An understanding of the impact of gender based violence on children
An understanding of the relationship between gender based violence and child protection
