Gavin Campbell is the Inverclyde Co-ordinator for the Macmillan Move More, an initiative designed to help those affected by cancer to remain active throughout their cancer treatment and afterwards. Gavin tells us more:
"My post is a three year funded partnership agreement between Inverclyde Leisure and Macmillan Cancer Support. Health professional and self-referrals can be made to the service.
Participants in the programme follow an agreed service of physical activity, which can include circuit classes, walking groups, gentle movement classes and gardening. Participants will also receive regular on-going behaviour change support throughout the programme for up to 12 months.
Move More Inverclyde activities are free to attend and suitable for all affected by cancer within the last five years. Some of our groups and classes can also be accessed by family and friends of those with a cancer diagnosis.
These programmes have been running with great success in other local authorities including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Renfrewshire.
Move More Inverclyde now has a cancer specific circuit class and Macmillan friendly health walk running in the local area. For more information on how to refer or for an informal chat please contact the me on the number below."
